Multimedia installations in the Tula State Museum of Arms
On December 8, 2017, the Tula State Museum of Arms opened the final part of the exposition. As part of the project, the VIZHU team developed multimedia resources for the 3rd and 4th exposition levels.

We designed the installations and developed the content, supplied and assembled the equipment. We also put into operation and maintained the installations to ensure their optimal operation.

PROJECTION SHOW
The key installation in the museum. An exciting story of making weapons and its journey side by side with humanity in its struggle for peace
The show begins with a complete darkening of the room. 3D sound and deep colors transform the hall into an immersive movie theater.

THE PLOT
A primitive spear, thrown by a strong warrior, is transformed into a stream of liquid metal
When solidified part of the stream takes a sculptural image of St. George of Lydda, the defender of Russian lands. The other part turns into a serpent, a collective image of Russia's enemies.
12 GREAT BATTLES
A series of videos introduces twelve great battles of the Russian army from the battle at Kulikovo field to the Battle of Berlin
The content is shown on rear projection screens.
To make it easier for visitors to move from screen to screen, we synchronized the beginning and end of each video.

The history of small and cold arms
The exhibits of the third level are devoted to the period from the end of World War II to the present day.

VIZHU established interactive installations to help the visitors not get lost in the variety of weapons, learn more about its history, and take a glance into the future.

IMAGE DEVELOPMENT
THE SOLDIER OF THE FUTURE
A holographic installation with a mock-up of the battle suit of the soldier of the future.

We have developed a concept of the battle suit based on an exoskeleton specifically for the museum.

As a basis, we took modern developments of armament specialists.

A combat gear is shown in action – the audience can see how enemy detection systems work, gear abilities in critical situations, and synchronization with weapons.

KALASHNIKOV RIFLE
A digital copy of the Kalashnikov next to the real rifle
The digital rifle can be assembled and disassembled, there is a description of each part of the rifle. The visitors can take a glance at the copy and see how the trigger mechanism works and how bullets eject.

VR FLIGHT INSIDE THE MI-8 CABIN
We embedded multimedia equipment into the real MI-8 cabin without disrupting the original design
The visitors can become pilots for a while and participate in a combat mission thanks to a moving platform that enhances the sense of reality of the flight.

During the flight pilots receive route and mission information over the radio. Players need to be very attentive because they may face unexpected plot twists.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ARMS AND WEAPONS
An interactive reference book of the middle of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries. Comparison of arms and weapons by their technical characteristics.
Construction:

A unified table design integrated into the exposition.
The construction is made of artificial stone to withstand a large flow of visitors.

We added one more section to the encyclopedia – technical equipment of the future. Based on real developments, we created fancy three-dimensional models of tanks, aircraft, and ships.

OPENING CEREMONY
The governor of the Tula region Vladimir Medinsky and the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Alexey Dyumin attended the opening ceremony
“Our Museum of Arms is on the list of the 100 best museums in the world. It is well known both in Russia and Europe. And we are proud of it. The opening of the new exposition will help attract new tourists from Russia and foreign countries to our region.”
