RUSSIAN AZOV
ABOUT THE PROJECT
VIZHU developed a multimedia exhibition about the history of the Azov region
The exposition includes 13 theme-based halls and shows the history of Pryazovia from the Scythian’s times (VIII century B.C.) to our time.
USER’S ROUTE
The exposition is divided into three different halls – informative, atmospheric, and performance
Educational halls give way to atmospheric (entertaining) ones to better remember the information and not overload the visitors.
CONCEPT
The exposition begins with an interactive quiz about the history of the Azov region
The first hall is intended to show how little we know about Azov and its history. We motivate the visitors to watch the exhibition more attentively. Near the end of the exhibition, there are two performance halls. The first one is interactive where the audience should answer the questions and the narrative depends on the answers. The second performance is a full-scale dome show summarizing the entire history of the Azov region.
DESIGN
The key element of the exhibition content is the golden letter ‘O’ from the word ‘Azov’
A dark background, patterns, and gold typical for a historical context make all multimedia elements easily recognizable. As an illustrative style, we chose the engraving technique to emphasize the authenticity and historical component of the narrative.
GAMES
We refer to gamification to engage the visitors
In one of the games, a player is in the role of a chumak, a merchant class facilitating the trade of goods. The player will have to understand the economic principles of the 16th century and grow his wealth. The purpose of the second game is to learn a brief history of several cities of the Azov region and try to make the coat of arms of the city using his knowledge.
INTERESTING MOMENTS
At the beginning of the exhibition, the visitors see a raging sea flooding the entire hall with glare and surrounded by large pebbles with engraving
The holographic projection allows the visitors to view ancient artifacts of the Azov peoples from all sides. The interactive installation “Clouds thicken over Azov” offers the visitors to move the clouds apart with their hands to see the map of Azov.
PHOTOMECHANICS
We constructed a decoration in the hall for the visitors to take photos of them standing on the deck of an ancient ship sailing under the Russian flag across the Azov Sea
QUIZ
The end of the exhibition mirrors its beginning. The visitors should first answer the questions about the history of Azov
Some questions are the same as in the first quiz but others are new based on the information that was given at different points of the exhibition.
